Dermatologist at Irvine, CA area practice discusses merits of Belotero Balance procedure

Unlike other types of procedures; such as some lasers and mechanical resurfacing techniques, you can see an improvement in your appearance immediately after a single treatment with Belotero Balance®.

What should I expect from the Belotero Balance® procedure?

Belotero Balance® is a dermal filler. As with other dermal fillers, this type of treatment is injected into trouble spots to add volume and restore youthful contours and smoothness. Dr. Farshidi precisely applies this wrinkle-smoother to the folds around your nose and mouth by way of a very fine needle. The amount of filler injected into your face depends partly on:

  • The severity of the wrinkles and folds to be treated
  • Your goals for treatment
  • The number of areas to be treated

When administered by a skilled professional like Dr. Farshidi, the risks of unwanted side effects are minimized. The most common side effects associated with Belotero Balance® are not unlike other hyaluronic acid (HA)-based fillers, and include: redness, swelling, bruising, irritation, and tenderness. These side-effects will resolve on their own within 7 days.

HA is a popular base for fillers because your body produces this substance on its own. This natural lubricant and moisturizer is not as abundant as you get older. If you are concerned about discomfort at the injection site during treatment, Dr. Farshidi will discuss options with you to make this low-risk procedure even more comfortable; such as administering a numbing medication like lidocaine prior to treatment.

Unlike other HA-based fillers, the Belotero Balance® formulation is uniquely designed to be particularly soft and cohesive. What this means, for patients with nasolabial folds and smile and lip lines, is the filler quickly and evenly integrates into the treatment area for natural looking and immediate results. You may enjoy those results for 6 months or more. A touch up injection may be needed 2 weeks post-treatment. This follow-up treatment helps to optimize the smoothing effect and amplify the rounding of the skin that helps to prolong these smooth effects. How long Belotero Balance® lasts also depends on where it is injected. If it’s injected into an area where there is a lot of movement from eating, talking, or smiling it may not last as long as an area where there is less movement.

Dr. Farshidi will also walk through ways to minimize unwanted side effects at the injection site following treatment; such as the administration of other treatments like laser and chemical resurfacing.
